Nehera Explores the Urban Jungle

In his position as a creative consultant for Hermès, The Row, Damir Doma and Christophe Lemaire, Samuel Drira often played with ideas of minimalism and monotone color palettes. As creative director of Nehera, he sent these same designs down the Fall 2016 runway, but with his own touch of structure and a collective vision brought to life in velvet, silk and suede.

Designers Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant just presented their sophomore collection of the recently revived Courrèges label at Paris Fashion Week. The French house, which was purchased in 2011, has been faithfully following the aesthetic of the founder with a lineup of athletic-inspired ready-to-wear. They’ve managed to successfully maintain the story of the brand while still bringing it into 2016—this season they did so with a line of wearable tech.

“I like it when effects are not so obvious,” Tomas Maier said in his program notes. “Something that’s usually very fancy doesn’t need to be. It can be done differently.” For his Fall 2016 Bottega Veneta line, the creative director opted to leave behind the idea of themes and inspiration, and create a collection that was beautiful in its simplicity. His work with fabric, patterns and cuts were polished, luxurious and decidedly effortless.

Every girl wants to be a princess—that was the thought process behind Dolce & Gabbana’s new Fall 2016 collection. Instead of taking us to the streets of Sicily (again) Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce dropped us firmly between the pages of our favorite fairy tales. The runway was filled with references to Cinderella, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty, reimagined for fashionable fantasy lovers.

Dsquared2 Sends Their Models Into Combat

“It’s a warrior world,” Dan Caten said backstage of the Dsquared2 Fall 2016 collection. Brothers Dan and Dean Caten offered up a lineup of fashionable combat wear inspired by military, Victorian and samurai aesthetics. Drawing partially from the aristocratic designs of last year’s Fall 2015 collection and the Japanese influences in their Fall 2016 menswear line, the collection was a mashup derived from their previous work that surprisingly, worked well together.

Tod's Pushes the Envelope Too Far

Before the show began, Tod’s paid tribute to the artisans that hand-make their Italian leather pieces with an installation by performance artist Vanessa Beecroft. Karlie Kloss was lying on a wooden table as craftsmen sewed her into her cognac leather ensemble. Models surrounded her, draped in pieces of unfinished leather as if they were awaiting their turn on the table.

Using the same aesthetics that make her line so popular with the red carpet crowd, she used pajamas, lingerie and undergarments to add a tasteful touch of romance to her Fall 2016 collection.
